The Centers for Disease Control’s own statistics, in every year, reveal cancer — and not heart disease — has been America’s real No. 1 killer disease through age 84.

According to the most recent NVSS (National Vital Statistics System) report for the year 2006 (Vol. 57, No. 14, April 17, 2009), cancer accounted for 23% of all deaths, apparently behind heart disease at 26%.

Yet a more careful analysis of the death rate statistics for both heart disease and cancer through age 84 reveals an entirely different picture.

Heart disease accounts for just 19% of all deaths through age 84, while cancer claimed 23%.

The numbers through age 74 are even more revealing…

In every age group cancer claimed more lives than heart disease, without exception. Through age 74 cancer was far in the lead, accounting for 18% of all deaths to heart disease’s paltry 12%.

In short, cancer claims 133% more victims than heart disease through age 74!

Further, cancer has climbed steadily, claiming a larger percentage every year, while heart disease has steadily fallen every year for the past several decades.

For instance, heart disease is credited with 27.2% of all deaths in 2004, according to the CDC’s NVSS report for that year (Vol. 56, No. 5, November 20, 2007), compared to just 26% in 2006.

Cancer, during the same two year period, rose from 553,888 deaths in 2004 to 559,888 in 2006.

And those numbers would be much higher if the true statistics of deaths caused by cancer treatments, but attributed to other causes — including heart disease — were accurately reported.

Why, then is heart disease proclaimed the leading cause of death in America?

Simply because heart disease is over-reported for those age 85 and up, apparently because it is the easiest “diagnosis” to make, without going to the expense and trouble of a full examination into the actual cause of death.

In the end we all die of a stopped heart, after all, regardless of the true cause of death.

The true causes of death could be cancer treatment drugs that lead directly to a heart attack, stroke or other form of fatal cardiac arrest, or dehydration and malnutrition, which can likewise have a fatal adverse effect on the heart.

There is little support, in the statistics up to age 85, to support the idea that heart disease suddenly explodes into the number one leading cause of death.

When all cancer deaths through age 84 are totaled and compared with all heart disease deaths through age 84 (474,808 compared to 394,257 for the year 2006), it becomes apparent that only the skewing effect of the increase in falsely attributed heart disease in those age 85 and up accounts for the vastly different totals through all ages (417,790 deaths attributed to heart disease, compared to just 249,961 cancer deaths for those aged 75 and up).

The vast majority of these are in the age 85 and up category (237,339 death attributed to heart disease in 2006, compared to just 85,072 deaths attributed to all neoplasms that year).

Clearly, cancer doesn’t suddenly take a back seat at age 85, or leave the scene altogether, as it appears from these statistics!

If anything could account for the vast increase in heart disease for this age group, other than misdiagnosing the actual cause of death, it would be the fatal effect of the many drugs administered to the advanced elderly which adversely affect heart health.

Certainly, if diet or lifestyle alone accounted for the numbers, the percentage of deaths claimed by heart disease in all age groups would likewise be significantly higher than reported.

All that can be said for certain, in view of these facts, is that cancer is on the increase, and heart disease is on the decrease, and when the skewing effect of misdiagnosed heart disease in the advanced elderly is taken into account, cancer is clearly America’s No. 1 killer disease!

Ask yourself this vital question: “If the press has gotten something this simple so wrong, what else are they entirely mistaken about when it comes to the causes and cures for all cancers?”
